Buildbase Suzuki heads north for Knockhill

The Buildbase Suzuki team has headed north of the border to Knockhill this weekend, for round five of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

With wall-to-wall sunshine forecast for race day, Bradley Ray is looking to put a disappointing weekend at Snetterton behind him and get his championship challenge back on track, while teammate Richard Cooper is looking to continue the upward trajectory of his performances on his GSX-R1000. Cooper set a new lap record of Mallory Park while racing with Thundersport for some more track time, while Ray enjoyed a positive test at the same circuit earlier this week.

Currently heading the National Superstock 1000 championship, Billy McConnell will look to extend his series lead over the weekend at Knockhill, the Aussie also enjoying a strong test at the team’s Mallory Park base.

Bradley Ray, “Snetterton was obviously a disappointing weekend for me after setting pole. Going on to not score in either race wasn’t what we were hoping for, of course. But as everyone says on days like that: it’s racing, it happens. What we have to do is take the positives, and again we showed we had good pace and could run at the front, and have the speed to win more races. So we’re taking that into this weekend. We also enjoyed a good test recently at Mallory, so confidence is still high and hopefully we can come away with some good championship points, hopefully two podiums, and ideally wins.”

Richard Cooper, “I’m feeling good. We had a good run out at Mallory and while we were there to do a bit of testing and try some things, we came away with a new outright lap record, which is always nice and good for the confidence. Plan is to start FP1 as we left Mallory , look to keep improving, and get in amongst it.”

Billy McConnell, “Mallory was good for us, it was good to get out the bike and keep trying to find ways to improve. But to be honest, it’s working so well already we’re looking for little things. But the times we were doing were real fast, so we’re looking good for the weekend, and hopefully we can pull out a few more points on our rivals.”
